This Privacy Policy explains how Cohorta ("Cohorta," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our learning platform, websites, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
- Information you provide: account details such as your name, email address, and password; billing information; the content you upload to build courses; and any messages you send us.
- Information from learners: when you or your organization invite learners, we process their account details and learning activity on your behalf.
- Information collected automatically: log data, device and browser information, IP address, and usage data such as pages viewed and features used.
- Cookies and similar technologies: as described in the Cookies section below.
How we use information
We use information to provide, maintain, and improve the Service; create and manage accounts; build and deliver courses and quizzes; track learning progress; process payments; respond to support requests; send service-related communications; keep the Service secure and prevent abuse; and comply with our legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with: service providers who help us operate the Service (such as hosting, analytics, and payment processing) under appropriate confidentiality obligations; your organization's administrators, where you are a learner; authorities or others when required by law or to protect rights and safety; and a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly without them.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Course content and learner data are retained according to your organization's settings.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continually to protect your information and improve our safeguards.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We respond in line with applicable laws such as the GDPR and CCPA. You can also opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
Learners and customer data
When an organization uses Cohorta to train its employees, customers, or learners, that organization is the controller of its learners' personal information, and Cohorta acts as a processor on its behalf. In those cases, the organization's own privacy policy governs, and requests from learners should be directed to that organization.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
International data transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
